What we offer

Our clients are farmers, woodland owners/managers, community groups and timber businesses across Wales

The advisory service is independent and trusted to serve the Welsh rural sector for over 30 years

All of our staff are appropriately qualified, regularly assessed against external criteria and either chartered or working towards chartered status

We invest in staff development to ensure the best possible service

Our advisors access Welsh Government woodland and forestry grant schemes, including advice under Farming Connect. We also bid for and run our own projects (currently under Rural Development Plan) for the Welsh farm/forestry sector.

We cover most of Wales.  Please contact us for advice and information about anything to do with woodland, forestry hedgerows and timber:

Woodland Creation

  • Receive to £4,500 per hectare in capital grant,
  • Be eligible for up to £350 per hectare / year for 12 years in annual premium payment,
  • Continue to collect Basic Payment Scheme on land planted under Glastir Woodland Creation,
  • £60 per hectare for maintenance for 12 years,
  • £3.48 per metre towards the cost of fencing.

  • The minimum planting area required is 0.25 hectares (0.6 acres) which can be made up of multiple planting areas (minimum 0.1ha). Under this revised scheme there is no fixed minimum width for new woodlands. GWC grants can be used to plant areas ranging from shelterbelts, woodland strips and field corners to substantial areas of woodland.

  • To apply, you will need a Customer Reference Number (CRN) from Welsh Government and to register with RPW online.
    • You must have ‘management control’ of the land. To apply for GWC you will need to complete an Expression of Interest form using the Rural Payments Wales Online service, for which you will need a RPW Online Activation Code. Expressions of Interest can only be made within certain time periods specified by WG. If you do not have a CRN or RPW Online Activation Code call the WG Customer Contact Centre on 0300 062 5004.

We manage a high proportion of Glastir schemes. We operate framework agreements to secure planting stock from UK sources and local contractors, to ensure schemes are delivered and grant claims successful. All Glastir clients have the option to access these services.

Take a look at the rules booklet for this round of GWC.

Please contact us for additional help and support or for more detail on the scheme rules and available options, see this summary sheet and visit the Glastir pages.

Timber Sales & Felling Licences

Coed Cymru measuring Welsh trees 2016_1.jpg

  • We specialise in harvesting and marketing smaller timber parcels.
  • We can obtain better prices by combining lots for harvesting and sale.
  • We can provide all services, from Felling Licences through to harvesting contract management.
  • We actively seek value added markets, such as through a network of local sawmills, furniture and construction markets.
  • Staff are certified structural timber graders and we are continually improving our knowledge about specialist markets, to increase returns to timber growers. View this link to see some our work with the Home Grown Homes project.
  • Certification is available and our schemes are managed to high environmental standards.

Woodland Carbon Code

carboncode_740px.png

The Woodland Carbon Code is a UK Government Backed scheme to value the carbon captured woodland creation schemes and market these units to corporate buyers. The scheme is available on land recently planted for the first time, it does not apply where there is a legal obligation to restock after felling.

The Coed Cymru Group scheme deals with the process of verification and validation for you markets the carbon units on your behalf. It is available to all our clients and we may accept schemes managed through other agents from time to time.
